DAC Flex Smooth
Ref.: 125-Line
Location : Royal London House, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth
Royal London House in Bournemouth carried out substantial concrete repair work that had left the building only undercoated and looking unsightly. The appearance of the building needed completely freshening up, however, being in an exposed coastal location, it also needed a high performance coating that could withstand the natural elements.
DAC Flex Smooth is a high build coating suitable for masonry and concrete surfaces. It is extremely flexible and elastomeric to withstand natural structural movement. With 'crack-bridging' properties of up to 0.5mm along with anti-carbonation and moisture vapour permeable, DAC Flex Smooth was chosen to give the building the protection it needed.
Durable : It has a proven track record of good durability when used for this type of application.
Flexible : The product is flexible and therefore withstands movement without cracking.
Permeable : Anti‐carbonation and moisture vapour permeability properties certified by Taywood Laboratories.
High-Build : The high build nature of the product enables fine cracks to be coated.
Low Sheen : The low sheen finish will keep cleaner longer.
Work to the Royal London House was carried out during the summer of 2008.
This started with extensive concrete repairs, then cleaning, and finally coating.
Coat 1 : Surface sealed with masonry sealer (Ref: 150‐50).
Coat 2 : Two coats of Dacflex Smooth RAL 9001 (Ref: 125‐line) to a DFT of 200 microns.
